Tongkonan LOMBOK (Pangrarukna TANDIPADA)

A traditional Torajan house known as Tongkonan. This one is Tongkonan Lombok, one of my paternal ancestral house and is situated in Bokko, Sangalla Utara, Tana Toraja. Feeling curious enough, I then did family tree tracking, and found that this house was once established (probably in the middle of 15th century) by Tandipada, son of Tumbang Datu who was the leader of the village of Bokko and Balik. Although several restorations had been done lately, but if we count from the day it was built, it has been stood for hundreds of years now. It is so fascinating to imagine how the people in the past life lived their daily life at the same exact place where I'm standing now. A nice place that easily stimulates the sense of pride for your ancestors' role in passing through generation after generation the richness of family heritage. Not only feeling amazed by its history, the view is also breathtakingly beautiful. Its location is just at the top of the hill and is surrounded by paddy fields and if you stand right by the edge of the yard to the east, you will find yourself been captivated by the stunning view of the green-paddy terrace complete with the small calm river and also wild forest at background. Traditional meets nature, if I may say so.
