Dilts Foundation is rated 3 out of 5 in the category nonprofit organization management. Read and write reviews about Dilts Foundation. The Dilts Foundation (hereafter ‘DF’) arose out of the concern of Wahyu Setyowati Dilts and her husband, Dr. Russel Dilts as they witnessed extreme hardships faced by ill, disabled, and out-of-school children and their families on the tough streets of Jakarta. Activities began in May 1996 by providing medical care for severely ill ‘street kids’, including life-saving operations as well as basic healthcare and follow-up support. From this start, DF gathered family, friends, colleagues, medical professionals, teachers, social workers and students willing to volunteer their time, skills and energies. On May 1st 2000, DF was officially registered as a legal Indonesian foundation with a mandate to work in education and health. DF has continued to grow and now has a ‘Learning Center’ with over 200 kids aged 4 – 15 attending daily in addition to its healthcare work. And while the problems faced by poor, marginalized children and their families have if anything increased during the recent Indonesian economic crisis, DF has also found that many people care enough to devote their time and abilities to a range of programs.
