Bodhigiri is a Theravada Buddhist Temple, located in one of the hill in Desa Balerejo, approximately 45 minutes from Blitar city by car. This place is really huge, and listed as one of the best and must visit tourist destination in Blitar. Here is actually a meditation center guided by one of the famous monk in Asia and the practice is held once a year so far. Unlike any other temple I know, this place welcome everyone who desire to learn meditation. Other reasons that make this temple different from the other is the well managed system. When visitor come to this place, there will be a tour guide who will not just show its beauty, but also explain well about every meaning of the majestic buildings, ornaments, and the decorations. I myself find this place is extremely clean, well maintained, and peaceful. Many people come from everywhere to see and feel the spiritual nuance. Since it's located far from the city, I recommend to inform/make an appointment with the management before going, and it is better to wear something comfortable which is happen to be very hot in the afternoon, or could be very wet (outdoor area) during the rainy season. Lastly, please dress properly (no shorts, no sleeveless, etc) to show some appreciation.
