I spent 3 days-2 nights in this serene & uplifting beautiful monastery. We stayed in the guest-houses that are rented to guest visitors. Six of us were given two rooms, each with a full bathroom (hot-water shower & sitting toilet). They charged us only 150k per person per day, for 3 meals and 2x snacks & coffee/drink. And fresh hot milk, too, from the cows the monks raise. I loved the food, tasty though humble. And don't forget to join the monks in their prayers, about 7 times a day from 3:30 am to 8 pm. Beautiful Gregorian songs in Indonesian! Plus, they cultivate coffee in their prayer garden and you can buy their freshly made ground coffee & bread & cookies that the monks bake!!

The place was very beautiful. Fresh air for free. The room was a bit spacious, but comfortable to sleep. Yet, the bathroom smelled fishy and it got me nearly passed out. No offense :( The brothers were friendly too.

A quiet place to pray and feel fresh with the air.. Many trees around this place are so tall.. They have many product like cookies, kastengel, fresh milk, kefir, pisang crispy, and many delicious product that we can buy as our souvenir.. They also have a museum that show us the history about this place..

Over the past decade I've spent over six weeks here, usually one week at a time, essentially living to the monks' schedule that's followed by over 170 other Trappist monasteries around the world. The trees I planted years ago as seedlings now tower over the roof tops. I can only pray that my own Spirit has grown as much! Rawaseneng has grown as a retreat center with 43 guest rooms and accommodations. Bring your own program to follow, join the brothers seven times a day in prayers, Gregorian chant style, two 30 minute meditation periods -- just soak in the silence, the original language of God, everything else is a poor translation.
