An interesting place and indeed it is one of the MUST GO tourist attractions in Tanjung Pinang. A mimic of the famous Terracotta soldiers. But this is a statue of all different Chinese Lohan and each have different faces and even different bodies depicting the respective Lohan. Though the place is small and I believed there are still some unfinished items, it is already a nice place to visit and walk around and enjoy the scenes and its aura. And most importantly it is well maintained. And if you have time, do read the story board pasted along the fence. It is a short and simple story and it is easy to understand. It give you a high level understand of some of the complex legends of ancient land and how it is depicted by some of the lohans.

Relatively new temple but very interesting to visit! The many statues all appear to be completely different from one another. The temple complex expands upstairs but is smaller than you’d originally expect it to be. Careful with the ants upstairs, they can bite.

Pretty new and fresh spot for 45 min visit which is enough. The area is rather small. Most of the statues are in one area and you can see the faces of the first line statues. Kids 12 and under are free, rest the same price as for adults. Other tourists would like to get photos with you :) A good spot to to visit.

Amazing place to visit when you are in Tanjung Pinang, a bit far from town but it worth. Can see 500 lohan/arhat, all very unique and different facial expressions. This area is not that big and you should be able to finish it less than an hour. When you were there, just take your time to visit all the place. This place close at 5pm, so please reach there before 4pm.

This place looked majestic from the entrance with a huge statue of Bodhisattva overlooking the entrance way. Serene temple grounds with supposedly 500 life-sized Lohan/arhat stone statues with intricate physique and facial expressions, all unique and different. Unfortunately the narration are all in Mandarin so if you can’t read Mandarin, it would be a waste. There is a temple within which you can pray and make offerings. The area isn’t very big and you should be able to finish within an hour. Entrance fee is 30,000 rupiahs. Note that you may wish to negotiate with your Go-Jek driver to wait for you as there are no return cars available for booking. Recommended to visit just before closing at 5pm when it is not too hot.

Huge statue of Chinese Goddess of Mercy with hundreds other statues of Lohan. You can drive your car all the way up to the temple and park it right in front of it if there are not too many visitors, otherwise you have to park halfway up the hill. Entrance is chargeable.

A marvelous Buddhist temple dedicated to Ksitigarbha Bodhisatva who took a vow to not attain buddhahood until all hells were emptied. When I walked into the complex, apart from a giant statue of a deity, pillars that looked exactly the same as the Ashoka pillar of India caught my eye. The 500 Lohan/Arhat statues are a short walk behind the diety. Each of them is unique. Someone with more knowledge of Buddhism than I will definitely be able to better appreciate the nuances on display. From this point, a short walk up a hill leads to the shrine of Ksitigarbha Bodhisatva. The top of this hill also offers a grand view of all the 500 Lohan stood in rows and columns that are slightly curved as if to mimic the seating arrangement in an amphitheater. PS: There is a cute kitten here. Please feed him if you can. He looked emaciated and skinny. He is friendly and will follow you around asking for food. Details of this temple are really hard to come by online. A review on Tripadvisor claims the deity is vishnu and that the temple is dedicated to King Ahsoka of India whose 500 followers/arhats spread Buddhism. After a bit of research, I found nothing to indicate this claim to be true. While there are definitely Ashoka pillars in this complex, no further connection to Ashoka or his connection to the 500 lohan can be found anywhere online. There is also no indication online that the large statue is that of Vishnu's. There definitely needs to be more information online about this magnificent temple.

Actually, there’re just statues here. I was a little blown away by the 540 lohans at my first sight though. A stunning place located in a very isolated place.
