Good for kids
We visited Harau valley in August 2019. The landscape of the valley is beautiful with steep 100 meters high red-orange rocky cliffs. At the bottom, there are river, many rice fields with people and Indonesian buffaloes working in the fields.

Nice valley with hidden suprises and nice sceneries.
Definitely a must come place, explore from Bukittinggi, about 1hour ride slowly. Best is to stay a night here to enjoy the forested area. There are many homestay available around the region. To me, it feels like Jurassic Park backdrop with rice padi fields. Weather is cooling in the morning.
The best thing part of Harau is the scenery, and others are just bonus Introvert who wants to be alone, it's your place!
